There’s something magical about golden hour—the way the light filters through the trees, casting a warm glow over everything it touches. This recent family session in Folsom was the perfect example of why I love photographing during this time of day. With tall grass swaying in the evening breeze and beautiful trees providing soft shade, the setting couldn’t have been more stunning.I’ve been lucky enough to photograph this family since their first was born, capturing all three kids as newborns and watching them grow year after year. Seeing their personalities take shape over time is such a joy, and this session was a beautiful celebration of their journey together. The kids were full of energy and sweetness, making it so much fun to document their unique little quirks and connections.And can we talk about their outfits? They looked straight out of a catalog, beautifully coordinated and effortlessly stylish. Mom, in her blue silk dress, was absolutely radiant, and the whole family’s color palette worked perfectly against the natural tones of the landscape.While the focus of the session was, of course, the whole family together, I always make sure to carve out moments for individual portraits of the kids and special portraits of just mom and dad. It’s so important to document every stage of a child’s life, but I also love giving parents their own time in front of the camera—after all, they deserve to have beautiful portraits together, too! Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do: capturing families in a way that feels natural, joyful, and timeless.
