There’s something so sweet about returning clients, especially when you get to see their little one grow over time. This family has returned for a number of sessions, capturing their memories in different seasons — and this spring session at McKinley Park was such a lovely one. The park was dotted with blooming flowers, which this sweet girl was happy to explore!
One of my favorite things about photographing young kids is that you never really know what you’re going to get, and that’s kind of the magic of it. While we always make space for those more posed, traditional portraits, I love encouraging kids to just be themselves. Whether they’re twirling through flowers, stopping to inspect something tiny on the ground, or running toward a parent with pure joy, those candid moments are where their personality really shines.
This little one was curious, playful, and totally herself. Her parents were so relaxed and open to letting the session unfold naturally, which made all the difference. When families lean into my candid style and give their kids the freedom to explore, we’re able to capture genuine moments that tell the story of who they are in this season of life.
When you choose me as your family photographer, you’re not just getting a few posed shots (though we’ll definitely get those too!). My goal is to create a gallery that feels true to your family. I pay attention to the little in-between moments — how your child holds your hand, the way they look up at you, the spontaneous giggles — and I gently guide the session so everyone feels comfortable and seen.
If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, I’d love to capture your crew just as you are. Let’s make something beautiful together! Reach out here.
