When a family flies me out for a photography session, I don’t take that lightly. I used to photograph this sweet crew when they lived in Sacramento, so after they moved to Austin, I was so honored when they reached out to keep the photo shoot tradition going!

For our shoot, we chose two very different, but equally meaningful, locations. The first was a quiet riverside spot near their home, a place they visit often as a family. Their kids spend a lot of time there exploring, playing, and making memories, so it felt like the perfect backdrop. It gave the session a natural, relaxed feeling that was so true to who they are at this stage of their lives.

The second location was a quirky little market in Austin, full of bold color and charm. It was such a fun contrast to the first spot and brought out a playful energy in the photos. The market had that classic Austin personality: a little unexpected, full of life, and just plain fun.

I also helped them choose outfits for each location, leaning into rich, vibrant tones that really popped against the backgrounds. I LOVE it when families aren’t afraid to go bold! The little red cowboy boots are everything! There’s often pressure to choose only neutral, “timeless” looks, but there’s something really special about seeing a gallery that reflects the personality and energy of your family in that exact moment in time.
