Today, I wanted to share my top three photoshoot locations in the Sacramento region. I’ve been a local Sacramento photographer for over ten years and have searched the region for the best locations for photoshoots. My three favorite places to photograph families, seniors and children are the State Capitol, Davis and Land Park.

The State Capitol provides so many lovely settings for photographs. The clean architectural elements of the Capitol building create simple backgrounds for both family portraits and headshots.

The surrounding gardens always have something blooming and create natural environments for group portraits, enhancing the image without being distracting. It’s one of my favorite places for family portraits because the kids have so much room to roam around and explore.

Davis is full of natural beauty, competing with Sacramento for the title “City of Trees”. The natural areas in Davis feature diverse landscapes from all over the world. It’s one of my top places to photograph during any season of the year. Spring brings flowers, summer bears lush greenery, and fall brings color to the trees.

The last place on my location list is Sacramento’s, Land Park. The park features wide open grassy areas, towering trees, and several ponds; all perfect backdrops for family portraits. Also, it’s a great place for kids to run around while getting their photo taken.

The kids can release some energy, while Mom and Dad get a rare picture together. Another great aspect of this location is its ease to get to. Parking is free, plus, after your session, you can head over to the Sacramento Zoo and Fairy Tale Town for some extra fun!
