It’s that time of year again! One of my new favorite traditions: “Jill’s Favorite Things” of 2023. I hope these ideas can spark some Sacramento adventures for your family or add a few ideas to your holiday gift list.

FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN SACRAMENTO:

There are SO MANY amazing things to do in our area — we are lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world! If you’re looking to stay indoors, I always enjoy catching a movie at the iconic Tower Theater. They have a rotation of new and classic movies, so there’s always something for everyone!

If you’re wanting an outdoor adventure, one of my favorite, kid-friendly trails is the Dave Moore Nature Area. It’s in the heart of the Gold Country and has a one-mile loop and river access that’s perfect for families with little ones.

FAVORITE LOCAL RESTAURANT:

I’ve been going to Sibling by Pushkin’s every time a friend comes into town! It is gluten-free for those of us who are sensitive to that, and they are open for dinner, too. Go there for brunch on Saturday mornings and enjoy the Midtown Farmer’s Market afterward!

FAVORITE BOOK I’VE READ THIS YEAR:

It’s hard to choose just one book, but I loved Circe by Madeline Miller. It’s a beautiful story, and if you have the chance to listen to the audiobook, the narration is excellent!

If you’re looking for a fun and easy read, Lessons in Chemistry and Romantic Comedy were both great to listen to as well!

FAVORITE MOVIES AND/OR SHOWS I’VE WATCHED THIS YEAR:

I have really enjoyed watching The Last of Us on HBO this year. It’s such a good story! Then, of course, it’s hard to beat Ted Lasso. I’m so sad it’s over…

CURRENT GO-TO ITEM OF CLOTHING:

I have 5 pairs of these Wels pants, they’re THAT good. You really can’t go wrong with anything on this site. So so comfortable and cute!

FAVORITE THING YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR UNDER $30:

This silk pillowcase is a game changer. I never realized how much of a difference a pillowcase can make, but this has been really wonderful for my skin and hair. Would 100% recommend trying it out!

FAVORITE PIECE OF FUN PHOTO EQUIPMENT:

This Fujifilm Instax camera is a fun way to share tangible memories with friends and family. Plus, who doesn’t love a cute little polaroid photo for the scrapbook?
