Can you feel it! Spring is in the air! These early, warm February days make me want to hunt for wildflower locations. Fall is the typical time for family portraits, but spring has more opportunities for beautiful back drops. Who wouldn’t want family portraits among blooming poppies, giant oak trees and fields of tall green grass that is a signature to California springs?
Another reason to get family portraits in the spring is that the days are warmer than in the fall. Also, the days are getting longer instead of shorter, which means more opportunities for scheduling golden hour family portrait sessions. It also means we can schedule sessions after dinner or team practice, that way everyone fed, happier and more cooperative!
An even better reason to book in the spring is availability. Fall is my busy season, which means less flexibility in my schedule. Spring offers you more flexibility with me in case a family member gets sick or it rains.
Getting family portraits done in the spring also means you already have your pictures done for your Christmas cards. It’s one less thing you’d have to worry about in the busiest time of the year!
The last and the best reason to book family portraits in the spring is the variety of locations you can choose from. Locations can range from the snowy mountains of South Lake Tahoe to the wetlands of the Sacramento Valley and the gardens of the city. It is an amazing time of year for family portraits!
