Even though I’m up to my eyeballs in work, headed for the Christmas finish line over here, I had to pause a moment to share this darling family session at the river. We shot here in the last week of November and it was relatively warm with some leaves still on the trees. The water was low enough that we could walk right out into the middle of the river and have some beautiful water in the background – something that is not always possible when taking pictures by water – there are so many variables that come into play but everything worked just perfectly here: the soft light, the low level of the river, the warm fall colors… I love it! And on top of all that, I had this GORGEOUS family to work with! I’ve been photographing them since the birth of their first baby and now they have two!
It was little Miss Kate’s time to shine for this session, so we made sure to capture her with Mom and Dad as well as on her own. So many smiles from this little ladybug! She was such a happy baby!
We have been working together long enough now that we’ve become a real team, making it easier to really nail the most important shots. (One of the unseen values to keeping a relationship with a photographer you love.)
One of my favorite images of the day: father and son throwing rocks on the river.
Then we headed over to the park. I have a feeling they’ll end up using this one for their Christmas card this year…
And I don’t want to forget Luke! In between all of the energetic buzzing around (like all little boys his age), he lets us capture some real gems in those in-between moments.
