There’s something magical about winter in the mountains, and this family session in Kings Beach, Tahoe, was no exception. I had the absolute joy of photographing a wonderful mom and her two boys at their stunning A-frame cabin, capturing the fun, warmth, and beauty of their first year in their mountain house.

This family purchased their dream cabin in Kings Beach in 2023, and beyond being their personal retreat, it’s also available as a vacation rental (@kingsbeachaframe). She wanted to capture memories of her boys at this playful, adventurous age, embracing the magic of mountain living.

From the moment we stepped outside, the boys were in full adventure mode, I even got to capture them having an all-out snowball fight. These playful moments are exactly what make childhood so special, and I love “freezing” them in time for families to look back on for years to come.

One of the reasons I love photographing in the snow is the way it acts like a natural lightbox, reflecting soft, even light that makes every portrait glow.

We also photographed some indoor shots, which really gave a lifestyle photography vibe! With its stunning A-frame architecture and inviting interiors, it was the perfect setting for intimate, relaxed family portraits. The space reflected their love for mountain living—warm, stylish, and full of character.

I can’t say enough about how much I adore this family. Their mom is such a vibrant, fun-loving person, and it’s clear where the boys get their adventurous spirit. This session was full of energy, laughter, and genuine connection, making it a dream to photograph.
