When you’re preparing for your fall photos, one of the biggest decisions is what to wear. It can be overwhelming to choose for the whole family! But don’t worry–I have you covered. Here are a few simple tips for your upcoming fall picture session:
Patterns: Plaid, Florals, and Stripes
Fall clothes include so many fun patterns, and I always recommend choosing at least one or two! You can never go wrong with plaid, florals, or stripes. I advise families to choose one or two patterns, then mix in solids or textures for the remaining pieces. Then, look at all of the clothing together to make sure they mesh as a whole!
Layer up!
Here in Sacramento, fall can sometimes mean hot days and cool nights. Layers not only give you flexibility with your outfits during the shoot, but they also add texture and depth to your ensemble. Break up the patterns with a denim jacket or add a sweater for a pop of color.
Jewel Tones + Neutrals
Speaking of a pop of color, fall is the time to sport those jewel tones. I adore a burgundy and mustard combo, and those deep shades of blue and purple make any outfit pop. Be sure to mix in some coordinating neutrals to really complete the look.
Keep it Comfy!
Lastly, fall is all about being comfortable and cozy! If your outfit is making you uncomfortable, it will come across in photos. Don’t be afraid to go with more loose or casual clothing like a comfy sweater or a long skirt. The more comfortable you are in your clothes, the more relaxed you’ll be in front of the camera!
