This maternity photo shoot at the Davis Arboretum was an absolute dream! I love doing maternity photography and seeing the excitement on parents’ faces as they think about holding their baby in their arms. Being in Northern California also means that oak trees are never far away, and this field in Davis was the perfect spot to capture the soon-to-be mom and dad.

Their natural interactions kept them laughing, which made for incredible candid shots. It is always my goal to capture a family’s relationship and connection in the photo. It was easy to do with this couple!

Of course, we had to get some photos of her beautiful pregnancy belly. We used a quote from Winnie the Pooh for this picture and it touched my heart. I love thinking about how this couple will look through these maternity photos for years to come and think back to their feelings of anticipation before their baby was born.

The natural light was absolutely perfect for this shoot. Her pregnancy glow was shining bright and was reflected in Dad’s face, too. That pink dress caught the wind just right and gave a natural flow to these portraits.

We picked this spot on the bench to come back to after the baby was born for a fun comparison shot.

She has the cutest giggle and her smile was infectious. I couldn’t keep myself from smiling behind the camera!
