Today is January 1st, 2013. There have been a few times in my life when I have deliberately marked the day in my mind as one to remember. There was one time in 1988 (I was eight years old) and I was writing the date at the top of my school essay and I told myself to always remember that day because I wanted to think back on that time in the year 2013 and know that I was in the future (and old – ha!). Well, now it’s 2013 and I fully expected to be teleporting and ordering food out of a replicator at this point. Oh well, my iPhone and Prius will have to suffice.
And looking back on 2012 – whew! What a whirlwind! You might have noticed the blog got a bit neglected starting around July because that’s when the “holiday season” started for me and I’ve been in a dead run for 2013 ever since. With this little break for New Year’s Day, I wanted to take some time to make sure that I shared some of the many beautiful families that I had the fortune to meet and document in 2012.
One of the best parts about my job is shooting on location, so when I got the call from these lovely people to come out and visit them in their home in Lotus, CA, I was excited. However, it was whole other level of excitement when I pulled up to their stunning property which had, perched at the top of a hill, a perfect log cabin nestled amongst a grove of glowing oak trees.
The porch of the cabin made a great spot for taking pictures.
And inside there was just enough light to get some beautiful close-ups.
He’s like, “Check out my cute teeth!”
I love all of the love in this shot.
Gotta love the expressions in this one. Ha!
A couple of little snippets from an email that this awesome mom sent me after receiving her order:
“Everything was so beautifully packaged and lovingly wrapped to the last detail. There was so much care and attention, it really was a delightful experience! Christmas came early! The 11×14 of Jake in the black and white brought tears to my eyes, it is such a beautiful photo — I just love him so much and you captured his essence better than I ever have during his (almost) year with us.
Thank you so much for all your work. Your care and attention really make a difference. We appreciate it! I hope I have the opportunity to recommend you and sing your praises to others!”
