This fun-loving family traveled all the way from Michigan for a vacation in Napa! They ended their trip in the best way possible, with a family photoshoot among the vineyards. They found me through a simple Google search, and I’m so glad they did, because this session was such a joy to photograph. As a Sacramento-based photographer, I love traveling to Napa for special sessions like this one, capturing families against the stunning wine country landscape.
One of their goals for this session was to create a timeless portrait to display in their home. I kept that in mind while composing their shots: in addition to close, connected family moments, I also pulled back for wider shots where the family was smaller in the frame, allowing the beauty of the vineyards to shine. These images have a fine art feel, blending landscape and family portrait elements. They are perfect for a large framed print above the fireplace or a statement piece in their home.
Beyond the classic group shots, we also captured individual portraits and some sweet couple shots. It’s always fun to document each relationship within a family, and these couple portraits were a great way to celebrate their love and connection.
They also did an amazing job coordinating their outfits! Instead of perfectly matching, they chose a balanced palette of black, white, cream, and blue. The different combinations complemented each other beautifully. The mix of tones and textures made the photos look polished but natural, exactly what you want in a family session.
