I first met these lovely people at their maternity session for their first son (now two years old – see his cute face below). I was new to Sacramento and didn’t have many local friends at the time. “C” (the beautiful mommy you see below) generously invited me to different parties and get-togethers. We ended up bonding over numerous photo shoots, triple-feature Twilight movies and “sneak away from work” lunch dates at Karen’s Bakery.
As I was going through the images from the day, I realized that I’ve started to photograph her family the way I would want my own family to be photographed: candid, intimate, simple. I also have a personal fondness for lens flare: the shafts of light and circles that form when the light comes directly into the lens and I enjoyed playing with it for this session.

This picture was cute — a little skull and cross-bones hat for a newborn baby. How fun!

Can’t get enough of baby feet. You can smell the baby-goodness coming right through the pictures. Oh-so-yummy.
