When Dana first emailed me about booking a maternity session, I was so excited to meet her and her husband (and her two pups, of course, because that’s how I roll). She told me all about her beautiful Mid-Century Modern home, right by the American River and I was already visualizing how the session would play out. I mean, how cute is this with these amazing MCM bricks, bright orange planter and that skylight above them… I was in heaven!
We ventured inside for a few pictures, only to discover that they have designed the interior of their home beautifully, complete with an organized-by-color bookshelf. Omgeeee.
It was really important to them that we include their fur-kids (some people call them “dogs”) in the pictures since they were the first babies on the scene. Throwing pups into the mix for a photography session is always a “let’s see how it gooooes!” kind of proposition, but they were so good and posed for the camera like they do this for a living.
They even give kisses on command. Lol
It makes me happy to know that her daughter will be able to look back on these, when she is a mother herself, and see what an amazing, powerful mother she had.
Since they live by the river, and it’s such a big part of their lives, we went for a walk as the sun was going down.
I love this color palette, from the deep yellow to the hints of turquoise. If you guessed that Dana is an artist, you guessed right!
I book maternity sessions all throughout the year, but the spring and summer is a particularly popular time for them! Give me a call at 916.933.8352 or shoot me an email at info@jillcarmel.com to book your maternity session today.
